Health Promotion Center

Vision:

The Health Promotion Center, Faculty of Nursing, Alexandria University, owns all elements that qualify it to become a distinguished center in providing health services and health education for all society aggregates, as well as providing training courses, seminars, practical sections and workshops for the nursing staff working in hospitals, as well as for the students and faculty staff to raise their health and scientific level.

 

Mission:

The Health Promotion Center provides health and nursing services as well as ensures continuity of health education for pregnant women and mothers for better health for them and their children. It also provides comprehensive and accurate care for elderly, adolescents and those with chronic diseases, for preparing them to face any health and psychological problems. Moreover, Training the students of the Community Health Nursing Department on the skills needed for health promotion.

 

Goals:

The Health Center seeks to improve the health of faculty's employees, students and the outside community through the following:

  1. Organizing and holding training courses, seminars, scientific lectures and workshops for beneficiaries in order to increase health awareness.
  1. Follow up of the beneficiaries' health status.
  1. Providing various health services including: 
  • Blood pressure measurement. 
  • Weight measurement.
  • Hemoglobin measurement.
  • Blood glucose level measurement.
  •  Osteoporosis measurement.
  1. Giving health education to clients with chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.
  1. Enhancing the students' educational skills to improve their health promotion competencies following the educational strategies in education and to motivate ongoing education and training of the students to graduate distinguished cadres in various nursing specialties.

 

Activities:

  • Early detection of some non-communicable diseases including; Diabetes Mellitus, hypertension, obesity, osteoporosis, and anemia through the following assessment procedures: 
  • Blood pressure measurement.
  • Anthropometric measurements.
  • Bone density measurement.
  • Blood glucose test.
  • Hb estimation.
  • Follow up care for the detected cases.
  • Provide health education to different community categories.
  • Provide counseling for elderly, clients, students, ..etc.
  • Conduct training programs for health personnel.
  • Train the students of the Community Health Nursing Department on the skills needed for health promotion.
